Barragem de Crestuma-Lever

The Crestuma-Lever dam is a run-of-river hydroelectric facility on the Douro, roughly 15 kilometres upstream from Porto, commissioned in 1976. As the last in the chain of Douro staircase dams before the estuary, it regulates water levels across a long stretch of the river and keeps the Douro navigable for commercial and cruise traffic all the way into Spain. Operated by EDP, the facility is not open to the public; its main interest is as part of the broader Douro river landscape.
