Underpass Park

Underpass Park is a public space carved out beneath the Adelaide Street, Eastern Avenue, and Richmond Street overpasses in Toronto's West Don Lands neighbourhood, officially opened in August 2012. Designed by PFS Studio and The Planning Partnership as an initiative of Waterfront Toronto, it was one of the first projects of its kind in Canada to reclaim dead infrastructure space for active community use. The first phase includes a skate park, basketball courts, and a playground, all sheltered by the massive concrete bridge decks overhead — which also serve as canvases for large-scale murals. The covered setting makes it one of the few Toronto parks that remains genuinely usable in rain, drawing skaters, families, and neighbourhood residents year-round.
