Bay Street

Toronto

Bay Street is Canada's most recognizable financial address — a 3.8-kilometre corridor running through the heart of Toronto from the lakeshore north to Bloor Street. The name functions as a metonym for the entire Canadian financial industry: the country's five largest banks have their headquarters here, alongside insurance companies, top-tier law firms, and government offices. In the southern stretch, the Financial District, glass-and-steel towers crowd both sides of the street, forming one of the densest high-rise corridors in North America. The shorthand 'Bay Street' carries the same cultural weight in Canadian discourse as 'Wall Street' does in the United States.
