82-мм миномёт БМ-37

The BM-37 82 mm mortar is a Soviet infantry weapon from World War II, displayed as an open-air memorial exhibit in Belgorod. Its design traces back to the British Stokes mortar, a pattern captured by the Red Army during the 1929 Sino-Soviet border conflict and subsequently adapted into standard Soviet service by 1937. Produced in large numbers, the weapon was used to suppress enemy infantry in and out of cover, and to illuminate the battlefield with signal rounds. As a memorial piece in Belgorod — a city deeply shaped by the Eastern Front fighting — it serves as a tangible artifact of the matériel-intensive warfare that defined the region.
