A preserved SU-76 self-propelled gun stands on a plinth in Nizhny Novgorod as an outdoor war memorial. The SU-76 was the Soviet Union's second most-produced armored vehicle of World War II, after the T-34, serving both as a tank destroyer and close infantry-support weapon. The city — then known as Gorky — was a significant center of Soviet wartime industry, lending the display additional local resonance.
