Amarna Tomb 7

Tomb 7 in the Amarna necropolis belongs to Parennefer, the Royal Cup-Bearer of Pure Hands — a senior dignitary at the court of Pharaoh Akhenaten in the short-lived capital Akhetaten, modern-day Tell el-Amarna. The rock-cut complex is part of the southern tomb group and was never finished: a partially decorated rock chapel survives, but no burial chamber was ever completed. The abandonment is historically telling — after Akhenaten's death, the entire city was swiftly deserted and the necropolis left incomplete. What decoration does survive reflects the distinctive Amarna artistic style, known for its unusually naturalistic rendering of courtly and domestic scenes under the sun disk Aten. The site holds significant value for Egyptologists and visitors with a serious interest in 18th-dynasty history.
