Australian archaeological research institute in Athens, founded 1980, with fieldwork in Torone, Andros, and Kythira.

The Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens (AAIA) is one of 17 foreign archaeological institutes based in Greece, all headquartered in Athens. Founded in 1980, it supports Australian scholars in conducting fieldwork in Greece and promotes Greek studies in Australia. Its projects have included excavations at Torone, Zagora on Andros, and survey work at Paliochora on Kythira. As a research institution rather than a public museum, it is primarily a point of contact for those with an academic interest in the international scholarly community centred on Athens.
