Auwald bei Hingste

The Auwald bei Hingste is a nature reserve in the Grafschaft Hoya district of Lower Saxony, Landkreis Nienburg/Weser, established in 1993. It protects a stretch of softwood riparian forest along the Weser — a landscape type increasingly rare in central Europe, characterised by willow scrub, black alder stands, and periodically flooded lowland meadows. The reserve provides habitat for wetland bird species and amphibians. Visitors explore the area on foot along natural tracks; the site is overseen by Lower Saxony's water and nature conservation authority (NLWKN).
