Baden-Powell Scout Peak
SummitMountaineeringGeography+2
The Pic Schrader — known on the Spanish side as Bachimala — rises as a commanding summit on the Franco-Spanish border in the Central Pyrenees. It is named after French cartographer and mountaineer Franz Schrader, who systematically mapped the Pyrenees in the late 19th century and made some of the earliest recorded ascents of peaks in this massif. On the French side the summit falls within the Hautes-Pyrénées département, where its silhouette closes off the valley of Loudenvielle. The summit offers sweeping views deep into the Central Pyrenees on both sides of the border. The ascent is suited to experienced alpinists only and requires proper mountain equipment.
