Augstenberg

The Augstenberg, at 2,358 metres, is Liechtenstein's second-highest peak with no border attachment, sitting within the Galina group of the western Rätikon range above the high valley of Malbun. Locally known as Schafälpler, the summit is a prominent landmark clearly visible from the valley floor. The standard ascent starts from Malbun, climbing through alpine meadows and scree fields to the rocky summit in around two hours — rewarding fit hikers with panoramic views across the Liechtenstein–Austria border region and along the jagged Gorfion ridge to the south. The surrounding slopes are rich in alpine flora in early summer.
