Baula

Baula is a 934-metre mountain in western Iceland, situated in the northern part of the Borgarbyggð municipality and clearly visible from the Ring Road. It stands as one of the more distinctive isolated peaks in the Icelandic west, rising sharply from surrounding lava fields and farmland. The ascent follows steep, sparsely vegetated slopes and rewards with an open panorama over the Borgarfjörður area and, on clear days, toward the Snæfellsjökull glacier. The hike requires no technical equipment but demands respect for Iceland's rapidly changing weather conditions.
