The Castle

The Castle is a summit in the Tatoosh Range, a sub-range of the Cascades located entirely within Mount Rainier National Park in Lewis County, Washington. Sitting just 0.2 miles east of Pinnacle Peak, the summit drains into tributaries of the Cowlitz River below. The terrain is typical of the volcanic and glacially sculpted landscape surrounding Mount Rainier, with subalpine meadows giving way to exposed rocky ridgelines. The summit rewards experienced hikers with open views across the Tatoosh peaks and toward Rainier's ice-capped cone — a remote vantage well away from the park's busier visitor corridors.
