Ben Lomond

Ben Lomond is Scotland's southernmost Munro at 974 metres, part of the famed list of 282 Scottish peaks above 3,000 feet that draws hillwalkers from around the world. Its Gaelic name translates roughly as beacon mountain or signal mountain, reflecting its prominence above the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. The most popular route starts from Rowardennan and follows the south ridge to the summit, a round trip of roughly five hours. On a clear day the top delivers an unobstructed panorama that stretches south across the Central Belt and north deep into the Highlands — a rare vantage point where Scotland's two landscapes meet.
