Berlin Wall

Also known as: antifaschistischer Schutzwall, Schandmauer

From 13 August 1961 to 9 November 1989, it divided a city, a people, a century. 156 km of concrete, barbed wire, and death strip - and the moment it fell changed the course of history. Today preserved sections of wall, the East Side Gallery, and the Bernauer Strasse Memorial commemorate this scar of Europe.
