Bördebahn

The Bördebahn is a single-track, non-electrified secondary railway in the Rhineland, connecting Düren with Euskirchen via Zülpich. Its name derives from the Zülpicher Börde, a fertile loess plain between the Eifel uplands and the Rhine valley. After decades of use primarily for freight, daily passenger services resumed in December 2019 under the Rurtalbahn GmbH, operating as regional line RB 28, also marketed as the Eifel-Bördebahn. The route links otherwise poorly connected rural communities through a stretch of typical Rhineland agricultural countryside.
