Batumi Botanical Garden

The Batumi Botanical Garden stretches across 114 hectares of hillside terrain above Georgia's Black Sea coast, making it the second-largest botanical garden in the country. Founded on 3 November 1912 during the late Tsarist era — when Batumi was part of the Russian Black Sea province — it has been affiliated with the Georgian Academy of Sciences since 1950. The humid subtropical climate of the Adjarian coast supports an exceptionally diverse plant collection, ranging from East Asian bamboo groves to Mediterranean shrubs. Wide paths wind through distinct climate zones with occasional open views toward the sea. The garden is open daily from 09:00 to 19:30 and charges an entrance fee.
