The Brahms Museum Hamburg honours the composer, born in the city in 1833. His birthplace on Speckstrasse was destroyed in the war - since 1971 the museum sits in the historic Composers Quarter on Peterstrasse near the Michel. Central exhibits include Brahms own Bechstein grand piano and original scores.
