Cecilienhof

Schloss Cecilienhof sits in the Neuer Garten in Potsdam, on the shore of the Jungfernsee, and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin. Built between 1913 and 1917 to designs by Paul Schultze-Naumburg in the English Tudor style, it was the last palace built by the Hohenzollern dynasty and intended as the residence of Crown Prince Wilhelm and Crown Princess Cecilie. In the summer of 1945 it became a site of world history: from 17 July to 2 August, Stalin, Truman and Churchill - later replaced by Attlee - met here for the Potsdam Conference, which set the postwar order of Europe and the partition of Germany. The conference hall with its round table and the working rooms of the three delegations are preserved and open to visitors. In the inner courtyard, a large red star planted with begonias still recalls the Soviet presence.
