Banshee Peak

Banshee Peak is a 7,420-foot summit inside Mount Rainier National Park, Washington, perched between Panhandle Gap to the west and the Cowlitz Chimneys to the east. The mountain is a high remnant of Ohanapecosh Formation lava flows — some of the oldest exposed volcanic rock in the Cascades — with the Sarvant Glacier sitting directly beneath its north cliff. Precipitation from the summit drains into headwaters of both the White River and the Cowlitz River. The standard approach follows the Wonderland Trail via Panhandle Gap, placing the peak within reach of experienced day hikers. The broad summit plateau is carpeted in alpine tundra, offering open views across the surrounding volcanic landscape of the Cascade Range.
