Evangelical Cemetery of the Augsburg Confession in Warsaw

The Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery in Warsaw's Wola district, with around 35,000 graves, is one of the most important denominational cemeteries in Central Europe and the largest surviving record of the Protestant presence in Poland. Designed by German architect Simon Gottlieb Zug and consecrated on 2 May 1792, it replaced an overcrowded inner-city predecessor. It is the resting place of major figures from Polish industry and culture, including art patron Stanislaw Lilpop, industrialist Karol Scheibler, and members of the Wedel chocolate dynasty. Neoclassical column monuments, Art Nouveau mausoleums, and socialist sculpture line long lime-tree avenues. The cemetery borders the Jewish and Catholic cemeteries along Mlynarska Street, forming a unique multi-confessional belt of remembrance.
