Frédéric Chopin monument in Żelazowa Wola

Also known as: Pomnik Fryderyka Chopina w Żelazowej Woli, Fryderyk-Chopin-Denkmal in Żelazowa Wola, Chopin-Denkmal in Żelazowa Wola

Warsaw

The Frederic Chopin Monument in Zelazowa Wola stands in the landscape park adjoining the composer's birthplace west of Warsaw. Installed in 1969 to mark the 120th anniversary of his death, it depicts Chopin in an introspective pose. The park itself was laid out in the 1930s as a place of pilgrimage for Chopin admirers and is now an outpost of the Warsaw Chopin Museum. On summer weekends open-air piano recitals are held within earshot of the monument. The visit makes most sense combined with the adjacent birthplace.
