Hardbrücke

The Hardbrücke is a reinforced-concrete elevated viaduct carrying suburban rail and bus lines above Zürich's Industriequartier, spanning the stretch between Escher-Wyss-Platz and Hardplatz. Built as part of the city's 20th-century rail expansion, it is a straightforward piece of transit infrastructure with no architectural pretension. The surrounding neighborhood has transformed dramatically — former machine factories replaced by creative offices, clubs, and housing — while the viaduct itself remains a utilitarian concrete presence marking the district's industrial past.
