HTW Berlin

The Hochschule fuer Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW) is Berlin's largest state university of applied sciences, formed in 1994 from a merger of East German engineering schools. The main Wilhelminenhof campus in Oberschoeneweide occupies the riverside AEG industrial complex designed around 1900 by Peter Behrens and Paul Tropp – a listed brick, steel and glass ensemble that once produced transformers and cables. The halls were carefully converted into lecture theatres, labs and a library set around generous courtyards. The Spree bank with its lawn is the unofficial student beach in summer. Non-students can wander the campus by day or combine it with the neighbouring Industriesalon museum.
