Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum is part archive, part museum, holding one of Europe's largest audiovisual collections. Founded in 1997, it preserves roughly a million hours of Dutch radio, TV, film and music spanning more than a century. The striking 2006 building by Neutelings Riedijk is wrapped in coloured glass relief panels showing iconic TV stills, anchoring the Media Park where broadcasters still produce daily. Inside, visitors step into interactive studios, try their hand at weather presenting, or dive into vintage commercials and radio plays. It is an unusually playful entry point into media history, especially for families.
