Käthe Kollwitz Museum

The Kaethe Kollwitz Museum Berlin is devoted to the work of the Berlin graphic artist and sculptor Kaethe Kollwitz (1867-1945), whose woodcuts and lithographs place hunger, war and mothers' grief at their centre. Founded in 1986 in a town house on Fasanenplatz in Charlottenburg, the collection of around 200 works moved in September 2022 to the Theaterbau at Schloss Charlottenburg, Spandauer Damm 10. Highlights include the cycles "A Weavers' Revolt" and "Peasants' War" and the woodcut "The Widow" from the War series. In 1933 the Nazis forced Kollwitz, the first woman elected to the Prussian Academy of Arts, to resign; a sculpture corner shows bronze casts of the Pieta in the Neue Wache.
