Marion Steam Shovel

The Marion Steam Shovel — formally the Le Roy Steam Shovel — is a surviving Model 91 machine built by the Marion Steam Shovel and Dredge Company of Marion, Ohio, a firm whose equipment dug railroad cuts, canals, and open-pit mines across North America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this particular machine now sits at rest on Gulf Road in the Town of Le Roy, New York. It offers a rare chance to stand beside full-scale steam-era excavation equipment up close, though interpretive signage on site is minimal.
