Museum of Asian Art

Berlin

The Museum of Asian Art of the Berlin State Museums has been based since 2021 in the rebuilt Berlin Palace at the Humboldt Forum. Formed in 2006 from the merger of the Museum of East Asian Art and the Museum of Indian Art, it holds around 33,000 objects from South, Southeast, Central and East Asia from the 4th millennium BC to today. Highlights include wall paintings from the Buddhist cave temples of Kizil in Xinjiang (collected by the Turfan expeditions of 1902-1914), a complete Japanese tea ceremony hut, and a 6-metre Mongol map from the 17th century. The entrance is barrier-free via the Humboldt Forum foyer; late opening on Thursdays until 20:00.
