Paradise Garden

The Paradise Garden sits on the south slope of Prague Castle and is one of the quieter corners of the castle complex. Laid out in the mid-16th century as a Renaissance garden, it was redesigned in the 1920s by Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, who left his distinctive mark across much of the castle grounds. Plečnik's intervention introduced a plain granite obelisk and a system of terraced stairways that connect the garden's different levels with modernist restraint. Its elevated position offers unobstructed views over the Prague Old Town and the Vltava river — without the crowds that gather on the neighboring castle ramparts. Outside peak season, the garden is a genuinely calm retreat within a protected cultural monument.
