Nature in Florence

Florence has a greener side that extends well beyond its historic centre. The Boboli Gardens and the Giardino delle Rose offer quiet open spaces within the city, while the Abbazia di Vallombrosa sits deep in the forested Apennine hills. The Certosa del Galluzzo is set into the rolling landscape south of town. The surrounding region is shaped by several waterways — the Mugnone, Bisenzio, Elsa, Era and Lamone among them.
