Annapurna IV

Annapurna IV stands at 7,525 metres, one of the prominent summits within the Annapurna Himal massif in the Nepalese Himalaya and the 17th highest mountain on Earth. It was first climbed in 1955 by a German expedition led by Wilhelm Ertl and Heinz Steinmetz, well after the more famous Annapurna I became the first eight-thousander ever summited in 1950. For experienced high-altitude mountaineers it represents a serious objective in the Annapurna Circuit region; on clear days its snow-capped profile is visible from Pokhara to the south. In Nepali mountain culture, the Annapurna peaks are revered as the abode of deities, and local communities approach them with deep spiritual respect.
