Api

Api is a 7,132 m peak in the Kumaun Himalaya of far-western Nepal, close to the borders with India and Tibet, and the highest summit of the Api Nampa Conservation Area. One of the most remote corners of the entire Himalayan range, it sees only a handful of expeditions per year. A Japanese team made the first ascent in 1960; the long approach march and technically demanding upper flanks have kept it an objective reserved for experienced high-altitude climbers. Local Bhotia communities regard the mountain as sacred. Trekkers approaching base camp pass through dense forest, deep river gorges, and pristine alpine terrain that feels genuinely untouched.
