Aiguille de Blaitière

The Aiguille de Blaitière is a 3,522-metre granite peak in the Mont Blanc massif rising directly above Chamonix. Its sharp rock tower is part of the Aiguilles de Chamonix chain and has drawn alpinists since the 19th century — the first ascent was achieved in 1874 by Clinton Dent after several failed attempts, making it an early chapter in the history of technical alpine climbing. Today its southwest face, with classic routes including the Spencer Couloir, remains a serious objective for experienced mountaineers. The summit offers expansive views across the Chamonix valley, the Glacier des Bossons, and the surrounding four-thousanders of the massif. The approach requires glacier travel and full high-alpine equipment.
