Ardglass Castle

Ardglass Castle in County Down, Northern Ireland, is less a castle than a cluster of 15th-century harbour warehouses that once served one of medieval Ireland's busiest trading ports. The thick stone buildings stored imported goods for merchants who made Ardglass a commercial hub before the town's eventual decline. Much of the original fabric survives, now repurposed as the clubhouse of Ardglass Golf Club, founded in 1896 and one of the oldest clubs in Northern Ireland. Visitors can appreciate the medieval stonework from the harbourfront even without stepping onto the fairways.
