Albert Memorial Clock

The Albert Memorial Clock Tower is a 34.4-metre neo-Gothic clock tower at Queen's Square in Belfast, built in 1869 to commemorate Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. A life-size statue of the Prince clad in the robes of a Knight of the Garter stands on the tower's west face. The structure is locally famous for its noticeable lean — the soft alluvial ground along the River Lagan allowed the foundations to settle unevenly over the decades, earning it informal comparisons to the Tower of Pisa. It remains one of the most recognisable Victorian landmarks in the city centre and a popular meeting point in the Queen's Square area.
