Hürth-Kalscheuren station

Hürth-Kalscheuren station is an island-platform junction where the Eifel Railway diverges from the Left Rhine line — one of the most operationally significant rail forks in the Cologne area. Built in 1859 at the initiative of the city of Hürth, the station took its current hyphenated name only in 1991/92 following a contribution from the Kalscheuren settlement. This is where the Eifel Railway begins its southwest course linking Cologne, Trier, and Frankfurt via the volcanic Eifel highlands.
