Karstädt railway station

The classicist station building at Karstädt sits on the Berlin–Hamburg railway line, opened for freight traffic in 1853 and for passengers in 1859. Between 1911 and the early 1990s, Karstädt served as a junction for the Westprignitzer Kreisringbahn, a narrow-gauge district railway that once connected the surrounding villages of the Prignitz region — today no longer in operation. The station building, an outbuilding, the goods shed, and the original cobbled forecourt are collectively listed as a heritage monument, giving this small rural halt a remarkably intact 19th-century ensemble.
