Bad Kissingen

Bad Kissingen station is the terminus of two branch lines in this Franconian spa town, opened in 1871 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways. Its listed station building contains a Fürstenzimmer — an ornate royal waiting room once reserved for aristocratic spa guests — believed to be the only surviving example of its kind in Bavaria. Notable visitors arriving by rail in the Wilhelmine era included Kaiser Wilhelm I and Otto von Bismarck, both of whom took cures in the town. The station remains in active service today and is fully wheelchair accessible.
