Glöwen railway station

Glöwen station opened in 1846 on the Berlin–Hamburg railway, one of Germany's earliest long-distance lines, and its classicist station building from that founding era survives as a listed monument — a rare example of mid-19th-century railway architecture in Brandenburg. For over a century the station was more than a passing stop: a branch line to Havelberg diverged here until 1971, and the narrow-gauge Westprignitzer Kreisbahn ran from Viesecke to Glöwen until 1967. Regular trains still call today, but the protected building stands as the main testament to the station's former role as a small regional rail junction.
