Ottweiler (Saar) station

Ottweiler (Saar) station sits in the centre of the small Saarland town of the same name and opened in 1860 as part of the Nahe Valley Railway. From 1937 it also served as the junction for the Ostertal Railway towards Schwarzerden, a branch line on which a heritage museum railway now runs occasional tourist services. The station building is a listed Baudenkmal, preserving the functional Gründerzeit railway architecture typical of mid-19th-century Saarland infrastructure. Beyond its heritage status, the station holds interest mainly for railway enthusiasts drawn by the historic branch line and its periodic steam operations.
