Al Hamra Tower
Kuwait City
The Bahrain World Trade Center comprises two sail-shaped office towers, each rising 50 floors and 240 meters above Manama, connected by three horizontal sky bridges. Completed in 2008, it became the world's first skyscraper to incorporate wind turbines directly into its structure: three rotors, each 29 meters in diameter, are mounted on the bridges and harvest wind channeled by the towers' aerodynamic form off the Persian Gulf. The sail silhouette is not purely decorative — it was engineered to accelerate airflow between the towers and keep the turbines spinning consistently, a concept that earned the building wide recognition in sustainable high-rise design. A retail mall occupies the podium, while the upper floors offer broad views across Manama's coastline.
