Batura Sar

Batura Sar stands at 7,795 metres as the highest peak of the Batura Muztagh, the westernmost subrange of the Karakorum in northern Pakistan, and ranks 25th among the world's highest mountains. Though just below the eight-thousander threshold, it demands the same calibre of high-altitude mountaineering: crevassed glaciers, exposed ridgelines, and serious objective hazard from avalanche and altitude. The mountain is flanked by the Batura Glacier, one of the longest valley glaciers outside the polar regions, which itself draws glaciologists and researchers. Expeditions typically stage from the villages of Passu or Sust in the Hunza Valley, accessible via the Karakorum Highway. The summit remains the exclusive domain of experienced high-altitude climbers with full expedition logistics.
