Berg am Laim

München-Berg am Laim is a suburban commuter halt on S-Bahn line S2, serving the residential Berg am Laim district in Munich's east. The first stop here was established in 1897 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways on the Munich–Rosenheim line; the current station has been in its present form since 1916. It sits directly beside the Rangierbahnhof München Ost, one of Germany's largest freight marshalling yards — long goods trains pass steadily while commuters wait on the step-free platform. The station was integrated into the Munich S-Bahn network in 1972 and remains a purely functional transit stop with no visitor attractions of its own.
