Birkenstraße

Birkenstraße station on Berlin's U9 line opened on 28 August 1961, just thirteen days after construction of the Berlin Wall began — giving this otherwise unremarkable Moabit stop its one footnote in Cold War history. Located beneath Wilhelmshavener Strasse, the station has no notable architecture and serves primarily as a transit stop for the northern Moabit neighbourhood. It is wheelchair accessible and operated by BVG.
