Biserica Notre Dame

The Notre Dame convent church in Timișoara's Iosefin district is a Roman Catholic place of worship built in 1893 in the neo-Romanesque style, dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It belongs to the Sisters of Notre Dame and is listed as a protected historical monument. The church was constructed during a period of rapid urban growth under Austro-Hungarian rule, when Iosefin was being developed as a planned residential quarter. Its rounded arches and restrained convent facade stand apart from the Baroque churches that dominate much of Timișoara's cityscape. The building remains an active place of worship rather than a sightseeing destination — a quiet presence in an otherwise lively neighborhood.
