Hohennagold Castle

Hohennagold Castle is the ruin of a medieval hilltop fortification rising above the town of Nagold in the Calw district of Baden-Württemberg, protected as a listed cultural monument. Precise founding records are lost, but the castle's commanding position over the Nagold valley marks it as one of the characteristic hilltop strongholds of the northern Black Forest fringe, likely dating to the High Medieval period. A short woodland trail leads up to the ruin, where surviving walls and foundations offer views across the Nagold valley and surrounding forested hills. The site is quiet and unhurried, making it a rewarding half-day excursion from Nagold or the wider Calw region.
