The Coliseu dos Recreios is one of Lisbon's oldest and most beautiful concert halls, located on Rua das Portas de Santo Antão in the Pena district. Opened in 1890 as a variety theater, it served throughout the 20th century as a circus and cinema before returning to its role as a live music venue. The circular building with its elegant facade and atmospheric interior holds around 4,000 visitors. Today the Coliseu is a central venue in Lisbon's music scene, hosting national and international artists spanning pop, fado, classical music, and rock.
