Brewing museum at St.-Jakobs-Platz, founded in 1952 by the Hofbrauhaus

The Deutsches Brauereimuseum was founded in 1952 on the initiative of the Hofbrauhaus and was Germany's most renowned brewing museum. The exhibition at St.-Jakobs-Platz in Munich told the historical and technical story of beer brewing across the centuries – from a drinking vessel dating to the 4th millennium BC through medieval monastery brewing to 20th-century industrial breweries. Highlights included a model of a complete small-scale brewery and an extensive collection of beer steins and glasses from different eras. The museum gave tangible form to Munich's self-image as the world capital of beer.
