Deutzer Friedhof

Deutz Cemetery lies on the right bank of the Rhine in the Cologne district of Poll, hemmed in between the Rolshover Kirchweg, the A559 motorway and a freight rail line. At about 25.5 hectares it is one of the larger municipal cemeteries in Cologne and was laid out at the end of the nineteenth century as a successor to the older Deutz cemetery near the Schanze. Avenues of old lime trees and family graves from the Gruenderzeit shape the grounds. It is reachable from the Raiffeisenstrasse light-rail stop and open year-round for quiet walks.
