Dominikanerkloster Nürnberg

The Dominican friary in Nuremberg was founded in 1234, making it one of the earliest Dominican establishments in a German imperial city, part of the order's rapid 13th-century expansion into urban centers of the Holy Roman Empire. Affiliated with the Diocese of Bamberg, it held considerable theological influence in Nuremberg throughout the late medieval period. Like many mendicant houses, it lost its original function through the Reformation and subsequent secularization. The complex is now a listed heritage monument in Bavaria; visitors should verify on-site which parts of the medieval fabric — church, cloister, or convent buildings — remain accessible.
