21-hectare botanical garden with 14,000 plant species north of Nymphenburg Palace
The Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg, also known as the New Botanical Garden, lies north of Nymphenburg Palace Park and covers around 21 hectares. Opened in 1914, it is one of the larger botanical gardens in Germany, attracting over 350,000 visitors a year. The garden houses more than 14,000 plant species from around the world and is today part of the Bavarian State Natural Science Collections. The greenhouses, alpinum, and rose gardens are particularly popular. The grounds offer relaxation, scientific insights, and a pleasant walk along the Nymphenburg palace axis.
